For anyone anyone with an interest in the Inland Waterways (boating, walking, cycling, habitat, wildlife, history etc).

Our activities include evening talks & films about waterways together with daytime outings to museums, canal centres, etc. And occasional trips on memberís boats.

One of our outings in 2018 was a walk along the Basingstoke Canal from Odiham to the Graywell Tunnel. We hired an electric boat from Galleon Marine so that members of the group could take it in turns to go one way in the boat & walk the other way. This enjoyable outing was followed by lunch at a local pub, The Mill House, sitting by the millpond.

Other trips included a private tour of the HMS Wellington & a visit to The Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Whilst everyone knows about the Cutty Sark, a few words are needed about the Wellington.

The Wellington was Built at Devonport in 1934 & served primarily in the North Atlantic on convoy escort duties. She shared in the destruction of one enemy U boat and was involved in Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk. After the War she was bought to provide service as the floating livery hall of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.
