May Meeting

Tuesday 23 May at 2:30

Dear *|FNAME|*

The talk will be given by: Paul Whittle

The talk is titled:

Steaming On!

Britain’s Heritage Railways – A wide-ranging, colourful look at some of the country’s best revived railways, their beautifully restored stations, carriages and old steam locomotives. Plus a look behind the scenes at some of the many volunteers who help to recreate rail travel from a more leisurely time. Pure steamy nostalgia!

Paul’s professional career was in the City of London as a senior Human Resources Manager with a leading British bank. In 1999 he was granted his ‘Freedom’ and appointed a Freeman of the City of London. Paul also served for 34 years in the Royal Corps of Signals, Territorial Army. He took part in many overseas NATO exercises and attended the TA Command and Staff Course at the Staff College, Camberley. For his long and effective service he was awarded the Territorial Decoration with three subsequent bars to that decoration. As a retired officer he continues as Regimental Historian of his former Regiment, whose history he has researched, and published.

Paul’s first television appearance in 2018 was as one of the expert panel on the Quest TV railway documentary series “How Trains Changed the World”.

We look forward to seeing as many as you as possible at this meeting and that you enjoy this talk.

Fiona
