“Eureka; A Brief History of Maths From 3000BC to 2000BC” by Roger Luther
We will look at some of the key moments in the history of mathematics, from the Babylonians in 3000 BC to the Clay Millennium problems of 2000 AD. Mathematics is a human endeavour, and we’ll look at a variety of interesting characters along the way, from Pythagoras to Perelman.

Speaker – Roger Luther recently retired from lecturing in Maths at Sussex University. He is active in his own u3a in Brighton, and runs a number of maths and physics courses for u3a, both locally and nationally. He also delivers a maths course as part of the South East u3a Forum Summer School at the University of Chichester each year.
