“Two bars of chocolate a day can slash the risk of heart attack and stroke…really?” by Dr. Lynda Ware

Lynda explores the relevance of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) in everyday health decisions. She explores what EBM is all about and why it is important. Examples include where disasters have happened through lack of evidence and how drug licencing laws help ensure that treatments are safe and effective. Lynda also presents media headlines and encourages critical thinking to look behind what we are being told.
Lynda works with Cochrane, an international network dedicated to providing high quality evidence to support health decision-making worldwide. It is a non-profit organisation and in the U.K. is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and hosted by the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation. Since joining Cochrane UK in 2014, Lynda has visited many village halls and community centres around Oxford talking to non-medical audiences about Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) and its relevance to everyday life.
There will be time for questions afterwards.
