The Surrey History Centre in Woking collects and preserves the records of Surrey’s past and present, documenting the story of the county and its people from the 12th century to the 21st century, and gives wide range of talks to local Societies and Groups across the country.
Surrey History Centre holds over a million manuscripts, maps, engravings and drawings recording Surrey’s history from the Middle Ages to the digital age.
This talk describes the work they do in locating, preserving and making this wonderful range of information accessible to anyone interested in the history of our county, such as Sources for the history of poor relief in Surrey, Sources for the history of Mental Health in Surrey 1700-1990, Artists, Antiquaries and Collectors and the writing of Surrey’s County History 1760-1832.
