We meet monthly, mainly in members’ houses plus some visits.
The groups aims are to:
- Share information about growing techniques
- Swap seeds, seedlings and plants
- Share advice and tips
- Discuss pests and pest control
- Discuss use of fertilisers
- Assess the yields and flavour of crops according to method of cultivation
- Include fruit growing as well as vegetables
- Occasional relevant visits
All types of vegetable and fruit growing are included: containers, greenhouses, back gardens, allotments.
We welcome anyone interested in growing vegetables and fruit, but please note that we take turns to host or organise a visit, in true u3a spirit.
This year we have taken on an allotment plot at Keswick Road. This is shared between five people, meaning that each portion is an easily managed size.
